What it is
Grove is a cosy drop-and-merge puzzle. You drag left or right to aim, let go, and a plant drops into the jar. When two of the same kind touch, they merge and grow into the next stage. Seeds become sprouts, sprouts become seedlings, and with a bit of planning you can grow all the way to the Ancient Fig. Keep the jar below the line and chase your best score.
Three ways to play
- Classic is the pure game, with no ads.
- Zen is calm and endless. No game over, slow music and a soft glow.
- Hype is the loud one: coins, streaks, daily challenges, a daily spin, fireworks and a shop of skins and boards. It has flashing effects, so it asks before it starts.
There are three tools for when the jar gets crowded. The Rake sweeps every seed and sprout out of the jar, Snip removes any one plant, and Pollinate merges every matching pair on screen even if they aren't touching. And when a game ends, Rewind plays back how a smarter line could have gone.
Where it's at
Free to play in the browser at grove.flaux.com.au, with no ads. The App Store and Google Play versions are being set up under the name Seed to Grove.
How it's built
A single-file JavaScript game with no framework, plus a small script that bundles it for the apps. It's wrapped with Capacitor for iOS and Android, the same road MiPixArt and Waterway Rumble took to the stores.
